AboutStrawberry Plants
The first taste of summer. Strawberries are the most productive small-space fruit you can grow — a few square feet of bed or a single container can produce more sweet berries than the whole family can eat fresh.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between June-bearing and everbearing strawberries?
June-bearing varieties produce one large crop in late spring or early summer. Everbearing types produce smaller crops continuously from spring through fall.
How long do strawberry plants produce?
Most strawberry plants produce well for 3–4 years, after which production drops and they should be replaced.
Can I grow strawberries in containers?
Yes — strawberries are excellent container plants. A pot at least 8 inches deep works well for one or two plants.
