How to Plant and Care for Vision In Pink Astilbe
Planting Instructions
- Location: Partial to full shade. Prefers dappled sunlight.
- Soil: Moist, well-draining, rich in organic matter. pH between 6.0-7.0.
- Planting Time: Spring or early fall.
- Spacing: 18-24 inches apart.
- Depth: Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, and plant at the same depth as the nursery pot.
- Watering After Planting: Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil consistently moist.
Care and Maintenance
- Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially in hot weather. Do not let it dry out.
- Mulching: Apply 2-3 inches of mulch around the base to retain moisture.
- Fertilization: Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer (10-10-10) or compost.
- Deadheading: Not required, but cutting back spent flowers improves appearance.
- Pruning: Cut back foliage to the ground in late fall or early spring before new growth emerges.
- Dividing: Every 3-4 years in spring or fall to prevent overcrowding.
Container Planting
- Use a container with drainage holes, at least 12-16 inches wide.
- Fill with high-quality, moisture-retentive potting mix.
- Keep well-watered, as containers dry out faster than garden soil.
With proper care, Vision In Pink Astilbe will reward you with beautiful, feathery pink blooms in summer!
