Your watering globe arrives ready to use. Unpack it carefully, rinse it out, and follow the steps below for even, hands-off watering.

Getting Started

1. Unbox carefully. The globe is glass, so remove packing material slowly and check the stem for chips before use.
2. Rinse first. Flush the bulb and stem with clean water to clear any dust from shipping.
3. Water the pot first. Moisten the soil normally before inserting the globe so it doesn't drain all at once into bone-dry soil.

Filling and Inserting

• Fill through the stem. Hold the globe under a gentle stream of water or use a narrow-spout watering can until the bulb is nearly full.
• Cover the opening. Place a fingertip over the stem tip as you turn it upright to limit spillage.
• Insert at an angle. Push the stem 2 to 3 inches into moist soil, angled slightly away from the main stem of the plant so you don't damage roots.
• Steady it. Firm the soil around the stem so the globe sits securely and won't tip in a lightweight pot.

Everyday Use

• Expect a slow release. Water leaves the globe only as the surrounding soil dries, so an emptying globe means the plant was thirsty.
• Plan on up to 2 weeks. Actual duration depends on pot size, soil mix, light, and household humidity. Check the level the first week to learn your plant's pace.
• Refill as needed. Remove, rinse, refill, and reinsert in the same hole to avoid disturbing roots.
• Best for indoor pots. Use in containers with drainage; avoid very sandy or very heavy soils, which can drain the globe too fast or too slow.

Care and Cleaning

• Clean the stem. If flow slows, soil has likely packed into the tip. Flush with water or clear gently with a thin wire.
• Fight mineral buildup. Soak occasionally in a mix of white vinegar and water, then rinse well.
• Store safely. Empty and dry the globe before storing, and keep it padded to protect the glass.

How long does one filling actually last?

Up to two weeks. The real number depends on pot size, soil type, light, and indoor temperature. Check the water level daily during the first week to learn how quickly your specific plant draws it down.

Will the globe dump all its water at once?

No. Water releases gradually as the surrounding soil dries and draws it out. To avoid a fast initial release, water the pot normally before inserting the globe rather than placing it in completely dry soil.

Can I use it outdoors or in garden beds?

It is designed for indoor pots. Outdoors, sun, wind, and faster soil drying will empty it quickly, and glass is more likely to get knocked over or damaged.
