Ficus Burgundy Planting & Care
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Tolerates medium light but grows slower.
- Soil: Well-draining potting mix (indoor mix + perlite works well).
How to Plant (Container Recommended)
- Choose a pot with drainage holes, 1–2 inches larger than the root ball.
- Add a layer of soil at the bottom.
- Gently remove the plant from its nursery pot and loosen roots slightly.
- Place in pot so the top of the root ball sits just below the rim.
- Fill around with soil, press lightly (don’t compact).
- Water thoroughly until excess drains out.
Watering (Important)
- Water deeply, then let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry before watering again.
- Do not keep soil constantly wet—this causes root rot.
- Reduce watering in winter.
Ongoing Care
- Humidity: Average indoor humidity is fine; wipe leaves to keep clean.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly in spring/summer with balanced liquid fertilizer.
- Pruning: Trim to control size and encourage bushier growth.
- Rotation: Rotate pot every few weeks for even growth.
Repotting
- Repot every 1–2 years when roots outgrow the pot.
This plant is low-maintenance—just avoid overwatering and give it steady light.
