Apricot Drift® Rose Planting & Care
Apricot Drift® Rose is a low-growing, spreading landscape rose that produces apricot-colored blooms from spring through frost.
Planting in the Ground
- Choose a location with at least 6 hours of direct sun daily.
- Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and the same depth.
- Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen circling roots.
- Place the rose so the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil.
- Backfill with native soil and firm gently to remove air pockets.
- Water deeply immediately after planting.
- Add 2–3 inches of mulch around the plant, keeping mulch a few inches away from the stems.
Watering
- Weeks 1–2: Water deeply every day if weather is warm and dry.
- Weeks 3–6: Water 2–3 times per week.
- After establishment (about 2 months): Water deeply once per week during dry periods.
- Apply water slowly at the base of the plant to soak the entire root zone.
- Avoid frequent light watering and avoid wetting foliage when possible.
Fertilizing
- Feed in early spring with a balanced rose fertilizer.
- Repeat according to label directions through midsummer.
- Do not fertilize late in the growing season.
Maintenance & Blooming
- Self-cleaning blooms require little deadheading.
- Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain shape.
- Good air circulation helps prevent disease.
- Pollinators such as bees may visit the flowers.
Container Planting
- Use a pot at least 16–20 inches wide with drainage holes.
- Fill with high-quality potting mix.
- Water more frequently than in-ground plants, especially during summer.
- Fertilize regularly because nutrients leach from containers faster.
