AboutCombination Fruit Trees
A whole orchard on a single trunk. Combination fruit trees have several different varieties grafted onto one tree — instant cross-pollination, an extended harvest, and a much smaller footprint than a traditional orchard.
Frequently asked questions
How does a combination fruit tree work?
Multiple compatible varieties of the same fruit type are grafted onto a single rootstock. Each branch produces its own variety, and they cross-pollinate each other.
Are combination fruit trees easier to grow?
Yes, in most cases. Built-in pollination means you don't need a second tree, and the harvest is staggered across varieties for fresh fruit over a longer window.
How much space do combination fruit trees need?
They need only as much space as a single tree of the same variety — usually 8–15 feet of clearance — making them ideal for small yards.
