AboutTropical Flowering Trees

Color you can almost hear. Tropical flowering trees bring the kind of saturated reds, oranges, and pinks you usually have to fly somewhere to see — and they keep blooming for months on end.

They're a natural fit for poolside plantings, sunny patios, and courtyards where you want a focal point that earns its space. In cooler regions, many do beautifully as oversized container specimens that move indoors for winter.

Each variety is greenhouse-grown and shipped well-rooted, so transplant shock is minimal and the show starts early.

Frequently asked questions

Can tropical flowering trees grow outside the tropics?

Many can be grown as patio specimens in containers and brought indoors for winter. In USDA zones 9 and warmer, most can stay outside year-round.

How much sun do tropical flowering trees need?

Most prefer full sun — at least 6 hours of direct light a day — to bloom heavily. Less light usually means fewer flowers and leggier growth.

How often should I water a tropical flowering tree?

Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Container specimens dry out faster and may need water every day or two in summer; in-ground trees need a deep soak once or twice a week during hot weather.
